Porsche Type 547 “Furhman” Engine

Designed by Ernst Furhman for the 550 model as well as a performance option for the 356 models, Furhman’s complex design began with the basic flat four and then added dual overhead cams driven by beveled gears, coupled with dual distributors and two spark plugs per cylinder. The original motor produced a reliable 110 horsepower turning at 7,800 RPMS with later models cranking out up to 135 horsepower at a rather sedate 7,200 RPMs.

The Type 547 archival print is available in two sizes—12″ x 20″ or 18″ x 32″—and is pressed on acid-free, museum quality paper using naturally pigmented inks.
