Repco Brabham BT24

Designed by Ron Tauranac, the BT24 was based on the BT23 Formula 2 car and was notably light and compact. Tauranac continued to adhere to the space frame chassis, at a time when most of the F1 constructors had moved to monocoque chassises. The BT24 was designed to take the new Repco 740 V-8 engine and Tauranac had requested that Repco build the engine with in vee exhausts to reduce frontal area and ease the problem of threading exhaust pipes through the rear suspension links. Like the Lotus 49 the BT24 made its first appearance during practice for the Dutch Grand Prix, and in comparison the Brabham seemed almost obsolete, but as the season progressed, its better reliability made it the tortoise to Lotus’s hare.

With reigning champion Jack Brabham and Denny Hulme at the wheel, the BT24 took three wins to Jim Clark’s four in the Lotus, but with six 2nd places, two 3rds, a 4th and a 5th the Brabham team comfortably took the Constructors’ Championship, while Hulme pipped team-owner Brabham to the Drivers’ Championship by 5 points.

In addition to its three championship race wins the BT24 also won the prestigious 1967 International Gold Cup at Oulton Park in the hands of Jack Brabham.

My new 1967 Formula One print series features the winning cars and includes (all availability dates are subject to change):

Each illustration will feature a background that includes a graphic adapted from the event poster for the race the car won as well as the respective track profile. Prints may also be purchased without a background. Illustrations are printed on acid-free,  museum quality paper using naturally pigmented inks for exquisite detail clarity and color reproduction. Prints with backgrounds measure 10″ x 24″ or 15″ x 36″ and prints without backgrounds measure 8″ x 24″ and 12″ x 36″ with prices from $185 — $235.

Press runs on the Formula One series prints will be extremely limited—only 25 of each car will be pressed. Because of the extremely limited availability, for the first time, I will be offering  a deposit feature on advanced sales that will allow you to reserve a print, or prints, of your choosing. Deposit amount per/print is $75 with balance(s) on advance sales prints due upon shipment.
